March - Women's Month: Celebrating female strength and collaboration💜
March 8 is International Women's Day, and March is Women's History Month, which means there are many opportunities to celebrate women's contributions to history, culture, and society.
Although women have made progress in the modern world, there are still areas where we face obstacles because of our gender. For example, women still earn less on average than men, take on most of the responsibilities for household and childcare, face stigma and double standards in the workplace, and are underrepresented in leadership positions, STEM careers, and politics.
Women are exposed to domestic violence, sexual harassment, human trafficking, and rape culture.
Women in the 21st century still face inequality in access to education and limited career opportunities, and we face barriers in hiring for high-ranking positions, harmful beauty standards, and the pink tax (the high cost of feminine care and hygiene products).
All this without mentioning the attacks on our autonomy to make decisions about our bodies and our reproductive rights.
Unfortunately, the list of barriers and limitations to women's development and stability is endless, but together we can bring about positive change.
The theme for International Women's Day 2026 is “Give to gain.”
When we give, we gain; together we can help forge gender equality through generosity and collaboration.
“Give to gain” emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support. When individuals, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not subtraction, it is intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.
Get involved in the campaign! Whether by donating financial resources, knowledge, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time. Contributing to the advancement of women helps create a more caring and interconnected world.
Here are some ideas for celebrating and honoring women this month:
Empower women, young people, and girls around you through education and the fight for equal opportunities.
Learn about the problems and limitations women face in your environment and become an agent of change: be a leader in your community.
Organize an event to celebrate women on their month/day. For example:
Invite a group of women to watch a movie, series, or documentary directed/produced by women.
Download and listen to music created by women.
Organize a fashion show created by and for women, especially by Latina artisans and designers.
Decorate your space with thoughts, reflections, or art created by women.
Read books written by women; you can even organize a book club.
Support and patronize women-owned businesses in your community.
Support, follow, comment, and “like” women's pages on the internet.
Share content that supports and highlights women.
Although women should be visible and celebrated every day, we must take advantage of the month of March to showcase our value, achievements, and needs.
